The Roma Christianity collection (RoCPrints) is the repository of the Roma Christianity Knowledge Centre (RoCK Centre), a platform being established by the Central and Eastern European Association for Mission Studies (CEEAMS), the Osijek Institute for Mission Studies of the Evangelical Theological Seminary (Osijek) and various organisations, networks, institutions who have agreed to collaborate for a common purpose and fill in the knowledge gap about Christianity among the Roma. The collaboration is about making available people, information, expertise, facilities and funds for the sake of collecting and developing this knowledge.
The repository aims to be a tool for the study of Roma Christianity. Especially in Europe during the last two decades a significant interest in Roma Christianity can be observed. Networks of Roma ministries and churches emerge with churches and denominations engaging with the Roma as people’s group and devising various integrative ministries. Significant materials - scholarly, semi-academic and ministry-related - are being produced during this fruitful interactive process.
The RoCPrints intends to collect, preserve and disseminate these materials for ministry enrichment and scholarly research.
The goals of the platform are:
RoCPrints is one of the two tools in process of being developed for the study of Roma Christianity. The second tool (RoCMaps) has been initiated in order to map Roma churches and Christian communities.
With the information and knowledge gained through these "tool developing exercises", we hope to contribute to the development of contextually relevant training programs for Roma pastors, but also for the majority churches. It also serves the development of a Biographical Dictionary of Roma Christianity that seeks to give Roma Christianity a face, helping the majority society to overcome the widespread discrimination, "moving from image to reality."
